Ibex bouldering

Before it got too cold we were able to go to Ibex to do some bouldering. Ibex is by Delta and there are many fun boulders to climb and sand everywhere, its beautiful. Wesley really loved playing in the sand and so did we. Some places with lots of sand we climbed and if we fell its much nicer than falling and trying to aim for the mat. Anyway we went with some friends and camped a couple of days and had a great time with them.

30th bday blast

So my sisters and my mom all came to slc for my 30th b-day. we decided to celebrate by floating in the air at I fly in ogden utah. Its pretty cool even 3 year-old could do this. It was so fun just floating every where up and down and twirling around. We went there and then ate some lunch at a sushi place. We also went to a comedy club which was pretty funny too and much more. It was fun to see and hang out with them again. Alyse really wanted to ride this black horse. This was after we had a great sushi lunch! I didnt have any pics of sareah and crishelle but hopefully briannes got em in her camera.

Wesley is getting so big and smart. He started preschool last wed and he loved it and they loved him, its a great place not just daycare and its perfect for when i go to work! He turned two this July and has been a very good two year-old so far. He loves singing the alphabet and his numbers in English and Spanish. Hes doesnt know them all but quite a few. He knows a lot of words in English and Spanish and he can pretty much copy anything we say which means we gotta watch what we say! ha. he has gone pee and poop in the toilet once but we got lucky he likes using the toilet but just doesn't know when, no rush.WE had a July birthday bash for 3 kids. Wesley, Braden and Dax. We had a bbque pool party at our house and it was a blast

Costa Rica!!!! This was so much fun mostly because of the people we went with. we love them dearly they are so awesomely amazing people and so fun to be around. Our good friends from Colorado invited us on thier Honeymoon to Costa Rica Puerto Viejo. WE had good times chillin, surfin, hiking, eating and swimming. Our little cabin was nice and cozy and the people there were so nice. Thanks to Andy and Jen for inviting us. Vancouver trip the last days

The last of our vancouver trip pics. What a great trip it was we saw so much and surprisingly didnt hurt our bank account with all we saved from eating ramen, hotdogs, and camping most the time! Wesley did so good the whole time and we think he had fun too!

Day 11 Later that night we went to Sol Duc camping area and they had natural hot springs there. Warm and stinky it was and wes loved it. The trees were so furry! Olympics national park is where Twilight was filmed if anyone was curious, they love to claim that!

Here is a load of pics from our vancouver trip that we wanted to still share. there is still more to come but it takes too long for my patience. The order is backwards and not very organized sorry. Our friend Booke and John had to leave early so we missed them on the rest of the trip. Below is Day 10 Vancouver Island/Victoria Island camping and sightseeing. 2 week Vancouver Road Trip Day 2 and 3

This was the third day of our trip. We biked and camped in deschutes then drove here, hiked some hikes then got on the road to Portland or our next day of riding.This was the second hike in cascade locks. This was toward the end of the hike. We wanted to jump in here so bad, wish we had other clothes to change into.

2 week Vancouver Road Trip Day 1

DAY 1 but more to come:

Danny, Wesley and I went on a 2 week climbing, biking, hiking camping road trip with our good friends Brooke and John. Our main destination was Vancouver but we sure had a lot of fun on the way there and back. We hiked, biked, climbed, and camped in idaho, oregon, washington and Vancouver. WE had such a good time but it sure wore us out. Wesley did really good, hes such a trooper. Hes the adventurous kind so we think he enjoyed it. He keeps himself pretty busy since he had no TV which he is used to anyway. We are very proud of him and are grateful that he put up with our activities and he let us enjoy such a long good trip. The Shoshone waterfalls in Idaho are awesome. if you want to see Niagara falls but cant, then go see Shoshone falls. This is only day one!

we are very happy about our climbing gear purchases they worked great! we would like to learn how to trad climb but thats so much more expensive stuff so we just sport climb and boulder.

Our first stop was here at this great climbing place in Idaho Shoshone falls. Quiet, good climbs and easy access. Wesley was sure tired and brooke n john helped us out with him alot. We lead climb here and it was awesome, danny took a good fall and thats what you want so you know that you'll be alright.

My good long time friend ( Andy) whom i grew up with since i was a baby got married this june. Andy and Jen his wife now are perfect for each other. Since Andy is such a good ole friend of mine whom i love very much i am so glad that he found Jen cuz she rocks! We cant wait to hang out more with them even though they are far away. we miss them but we will be going on their honeymoon with them to costa rica and cant wait!!! Below is: the bates and the newly weds, and below that is me, the newly weds, and two of my sisters .we missed those who couldnt make it!

May stuff

The month of may has been fun, busy and rewarding. We got to enjoy the nice weather a lot before it rained tons in june and we got a lot done on our house. A life was born, her name is Alyse. Life is good here in sugarhouse. We went climbing with our friends brooke and jon in big cottonwood canyon and learned how to lead climb better. i thought this pic of wesley was cute.
Also in may we finally finished our rental apt below us and we got a renter to move in. Hes very nice, from mexico city and make really good homemade tamales, they were so good. In these pics it was "practically" finished.

We went climbing in American fork canyon. This was a really long climb but so fun,we went with our friends Brooke and Jon again, it was so fun, and then my sister dawnya treated us to a b-bque, thanks tim and dawnya!

My Sister Crishelle had a beautiful baby girl(Alyse) in may. this was very exciting, shes so cute! We also celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! Danny and Josalyn going strong 5 years, yeah, we went to eat sushi at the naked fish and it was super good. welsey liked it too!

update: well we have been enjoying the summer. we have gotten to go climbing and biking alot. a few exciting things are that we finished the apt and now have a renter we ill post pics of the apt when we get them on the computer. josalyn found a indoor soccer team to play on so thats really fun. we learned how to lead climb and lead belay and everything else so we can go climbing outside anytime by ourselves or take people we got all the gear too! josayn had a great crash going off a jump above the avenues, once we get some pics of the jump we will put those on as well but she managed to live but did get a shiner(the pic above). we took wes to the zoo too and he liked the turkeys the most since they were the ones making the most noise and movements. wesley is learning to talk more and more everyday but getting into trouble too but hes so fun. so that is it, nothing too important but life is good!

This is not going to be checked for spelling or grammar and i may ramble too much so read at your own risk. So tonight i sit here thinking. i cant sleep. i dont know why? you'd think because of the screens brightness that it would make me drowsy but no its like the computer screen is prying my eyelids open. Well a lot of my mind like always, i always have a lot on my mind before bed. its like i wait till its time to go to bed to really think more about things. it always takes me at least 20 min to fall asleep. right now I'm not writing for anyone to read this or hear what i have to say but just writing to write which i usually do else where other than this blog. I've been trying to be a better writer since Danny is really good. he really is an amazing writer which most people dont know. he inspires me and makes me wish that i could be at least half articulate as he is. and its not just him being so articulate. he writes things that i think of and cant put words to or am trying to figure out what I'm even thinking and he can write them out so perfectly, so creatively, so smoothly. so anyway ya hes a good writer and i would be his biggest fan it had had some published books and not because I'm his wife. There are so many good authors out there, the possibilities are endless. But lately by accident i have been reading some books by Douglas Coupland. They are hard to put down. I think i will probably read all of his books non- fiction AND fiction and i usually dont like fiction but his are good. Anyway hes a great story teller, good detail, suspense, and the way his characters philosophize their lives really resonate with me. he as well will say things in his book that make s me think ya thats how i feel sometimes or ya i have wondered what that would be like too. anyway hes a pretty good author so that's one thing on my mind. also i was thinking what it would be like to feel what others feel that i dont feel. like i wish i could just ask someone hey can you explain to me something that you feel that i dont? that would be weird to ask someone that but its also because hard for the person to reply. its just that there are so many different emotions in this world and feeling that i think am missing out any any type of feeling, and if i am, which ones? well there is one thought. oh another, yes adrenaline. oh adrenaline gets mt every time. i don't know why it gets e more than some but it does. when i sports, or do dangerous things the adrenaline starts to take over my brain. and me i guess it takes over even before i do something, i get it even when thinking about doing something. so the other day i went out with some friends on Saturday and we went to some dirt bike jumps. i only planned to do some down hill technical stuff and little bumps since i wanted to try out my new bike. well they took me to some big honkin jumps and i was like no way I'm jumping these. especially with my new bike which is not made for jumping big stuff. But all it took was seeing my friend try it (Rae) and my heart got pumping. Adam let me use his bike and i was hooked. i started little and worked my way up to (correct me if I'm wrong guys) but a jump that was maybe 10-15 feet high with 5 foot gap. oh what a rush it was. So much of a rush that the first jump i did even though i crashed i went for higher and when i crashed then i still wanted more. It knocked the wind out of me, i broke the seat, got a black eye and some other bruises but i still want more.( i will post some pics of this later) i guess its a feeling that some just dont get to feel and i wish everyone could. i want to watch people that are falling off cliffs and just connect a wire from them to me that would send that feeling to me. wouldn't it be nice if we all just had one of those "this is how I'm feeling wires" and could connect to anyone to feel what they feel.? pretty cool huh bu then i guess that would take some of the fun out of actually doing trick or having a conversation and or talking it out! i dont know if im very clear here of what im trying to say, thats why i envy those that are good with words. Well ok also another note on feelings. we just bought a new car today. ya crazy, i never thought it would come this soon. we weren't even planning on buying a new one. we wanted a used one. i have always bought used ones. for some odd reason i like used ones better. i don't like the shininess of a new one. i afraid of ruining it. almost like i just cant use it cuz i dont want it to get any worse. right now im having one of those feelings that i cant describe. when you buy a new car aren't you suppose to be excited??! well i have mixed feelings. its like i dont like owning shiny super clean things and im sad that all that money is going away. kinda like my engagement ring that i never wear(i wear my wedding band instead if i remember to take it out of my climbing bag). for some reason i feel dumb driving it almost like i need to get it dirty so it doesn't look so new but then i dont want to get it dirty cuz it cost too much!! ahhh! don't get me wrong when i see other people in nice new cars im like, nice, you look good in it and dont i think twice about it but for me its almost like i just dont fit in it. I fit in a piece of crap car that looks like a psycho drives it. Just like my clothes just raggy ole workout clothes that i bought dirt cheap and sometimes i admit it, i dont even wear a bra! (i dont need to most times.) There have been times in my life, many times that i dressed up a lot, looked more like a woman and had something fancy on but for some reason i never felt comfortable in those. i know other people can feel great in just about anything and they should but im all about plain. call it my bad style, bad taste, lack of fanciness, call it what you will but its just not me i guess and why force it, i remember too many times forcing it in high school and feeling like blaahh!!! there is no wrong or right way to dress or look and i dont judge anyone if they look fancy or not. and this all doesn't mean that i think other people shouldn't buy nice things, but what you want and be comfortable with it thats all!! well im going way off the subject so back to the car. We needed one though so we can take our road trip to Vancouver and other places in the future. I guess i will just have to get used to it but for some reason im not excited about getting used to it as i should be right? i will get in and think im driving in a lot of money, do i need to be? ya i guess we could have gone a little cheaper but for some reason we did not end up that way. the world gets ya, sucks ya in some how just like in high school, you feel uncomfortable at first and get used to it and then try to remember not to do it again net time. anyway its a Subaru Forester which is a good car, we will run it to the ground i guess. anyway thats it with my feelings. we are really grateful for what we do have though. i know a lot of people would love to have what we have or do what we can do. So why do i say thee things??? well just to write and get it out, not to complain or show people im right or wrong in what i think do or say cuz most of the time im probably wrong but its just fun to write and think about, thats all! an update: the little bates family is happy, healthy and looks forward to more adventures in the world. who'da thought buying a car was such an adventure, i mean its no rush off a bike jump and a great read but it sure makes you THINK!! at least it did me and that's why im up so late. goodnight! AZ & 3 day weekend

We went to AZ the weekend before Easter and it was nice and warm! We got to see everyone from Dannys family at once and take family pictures since we have not all been together for a long time. It was fun, pictures to come! Also for our Easter/Spring 3 day weekend our plans fell through cuz it was crummy weather so on friday we took Wesley to the zoo and loved it. Then on Sat we went to Momentum climbing gym in Sandy, very far away but awesome inside and fun climbs. We were even able to put Wesley in day care. Then on Sunday our friends Jer n heidi invited us over for a delicious dinner (its always good dinner there). And thats about it!

Half Marathon in the morning+a little climbing in the evening= a great saturday!

So we went to Moab to race in the Canyonlands half marathon. It was nice weather, a little cold in the shade in the morning but we warmed up pretty quick. We went with some friends Brooke, John and Jeremy. Everyone did great! After the race we has a great meal Mexican style, chilled for a little bit in out hotel and then went to do some fun bouldering where we saw a great place as we were running by it! What a great Saturday! The little pics I got of the Internet from the race thats why they are so little.

Here are some climbing/bouldering pics. We found some cool boulders to climb in the evening after the race. What a great day!

And so here are some race pictures. the order is a little mixed up but whatever.It was a very nice scenic race, we recommend it. We had a great time, great company and my sister Dawnya was so nice and watched Wesley Friday to sat. Our trip however was cut short cuz Wes got too sick and we are trying to be responsible parents so we came home early, we missed him anyway!

St. George Climbing trip march 2009

So we went climbing in St. George a couple of weekends ago and it was such nice weather. Getting through the snow on the freeway till we got there was crazy but once we got there it was gorgeous. We went with some climbing buddies of ours and had a great time. These friends are awesome cu they help us out with Wesley too while we are there climbing and all that jazz. We visited a good friend that lives there the first night and had some fun and then the next night our friends let us shack up with them in their hotel since it was too cold to camp and we had 7 adults and one baby in a two bed hotel room, nice, cozy and fun! Danny rocks the rock

Wesley liked to try and climb on the rocks. We let him climb to the top on one by himself i looks like but mom was holding on to him right behind. Jeremy wants to be a model supposedly from the looks at his GQ pose!

Wesley had fun in the sun and got really dirty both days but loved playing in the dirt.

This here with the white helmet on is my first lead climb yay! For those that dont know what lead climbing is its where rope is not hooked to the top, you climb a couple of feet and clip in climb a little clip climb a little clip and so on till the top. It was a little scary cuz if i did fall i would fall a couple of feet and hit the rock but at least not all the way to the ground. i had good coaching from mike derrrick. At the end you finally securely clip into the top and come on down. it was super fun so i would like to get better at it

The Florida Keys

It has been a about a month since we went to the Florida Keys for Dannys work but here are some Photos from it. I was a great trip. We has awesome views from out porch, we ate a lot of great food at the fancy dinners, and we got to play and relax a lot in the sun. Wesley found a little Italian girl friend on the trip. They just chasing each other, talking and they both fell asleep one night so we made them little chairs beds and they slept a little so we could stay out a little later yay! Some of the pictures are blurry or a little dark, we have not figured out how to use out camera very well but it still takes some good ones.They had great fish tanks at the restaurant and a great piano bar that we sat at and sang some fun songs. It was amazingly beautiful there as you can see. We had so much fun, its nice to get away from the snow and we cant wait till next year to do it again.

We had a lot of fun in the sun. Wesley loves swimming and hes very independent and daring. He tries to swim by himself until he sinks but hes pretty good at holding his breath and blowing bubbles. He loved the playgrounds in the sand and going boating in the lake and we did too! It wasnt the warmest that we hoped for but the pools were heated.

Flips in the snow

So a couple of weeks ago it snowed like crazy here and so we decided to go snowboarding with our friends jeremy and weston. we went to the canyons and it was a good good day. most of the snow was packed down but we were able to find some deep powder if we hiked a little ways to 99 ninety. it was so nice, and its the only reason to like the snow and cold weather. we were able to try some tricks. josalyn had to encourage the boys to try some flips by doing it first. the front flips had more somewhat succesful landings but we were able to do some back flips too which weston was best at. the first one is danny, the next two pics with the blue helmet(safety first) is josalyns flips, then followed by weston then jeremy. wow we sure got high that day!!!! makes your heart beat so fast all day long after doing these!

A while back we had some friends over for sushi. Ashley, Eli and Asher, whom we met climbing. Ashley is a great massage therapist so i am promoting her but doesnt know it yet hehe. We get better and better every time we make sushi well at least we think so. The rice is better and we get creative and end up eating a lot! glad its so good for you. My friend taryn gave me a sushi kit and we finally broke it out again and wore the cool bandanas that go along with it. It was a fun night, we will have to do it once a month or more. Isnt Asher so cute, Welsey and him have a lot of fun together. I just love these pics.

A new haircut and some ice sledding

Alot has happened over the last couple of weeks but these are the only pics on our computer to we will start with these happenings. We finally took Wesley for his first day of sledding. We went to sugarhouse park and it was all ice but it was fun anyway. he seemed to like it a lot and he went by himself too and enjoyed it as well. Also he got a haircut finally so its not the greatest cut, great clips did it and its too short i think (better than i would do though). i think he looks like Jim carry on dumb and dumber. but we can do different styles so that's ok. i do miss the shaggy long look though its more his style i think or maybe just his parents style for him hehe. there are some before and after pics the after ones are first and the before ones are on bottom, you can probably tell which is which. the one with me and him was after a wedding and he had spit up some chocolate cake and ruined his nice shirt but oh well they were all free anyway from my sister -thanks dawnya!

Christmas in Colorado

Well Christmas in Colorado was a blast. We got to go skiing, climbing, swimming, and played racquetball. We ate so much good food and saw so many old friends and family that we were just dying to see and cant wait to see again.It was so fun to go skiing with my parents, Steve Kris Andy and Jen, and Taryn and Joey. We went to Copper and Keystone, not the greatest snow but it was warm like spring skiing. Taryn and Joey let us stay at their condo overnight while my parents watched Wesley what a treat! My good long time friend Jen Downing and her husband Will had a little dinner at her house too and Taryn and Joey came as well as Kathy and Steve. It was so good to see them, i miss all my Colorado friends. Wesley liked his ride from Jens youngest son Cadence. We also got to go swimming at the rec center, it was nice to get wet! Taryn's family had a great party for a couple of graduations and so we got to see more old friend there too, the Brody family looked great!

We had a rockin good time climbing with our good friends Andy and Jen at The Spot Bouldering Gym in Boulder. So many routes so little time!

We had a Jolly good time, were able to do lots of fun activities. Wesley loved hanging out with his cousins and it was good to see old friends and family. I wish we were able to get more pics of everything, I'm a picture freak so I'm always thinking more pictures the better.I got no photos with my great friend since Jr. high Veronica and her super cute girl Eliana. We went to the park, ate, and chatted, its always good to talk with her.I am really lucky to have such good long time friends that do a good job keeping in touch, it means the wold to me. And super lucky to have such a great family that is fun to laugh with and that is so kind and supportive. It was quite packed at my parents house, for 2 weeks, it was like a little hotel. Fortunately we all managed to have our own room. Good food and fun all over the place, every corner you go around there was food and great people right there for ya.Wesley liked his little closet that he had to sleep in. There were quite a few closets used for sleeping in fact, good thing they were big and clean. Thanks to my parents for a great time and great hospitality, if it was my house I would probably go crazy. 2008 was a good year like all the others. Heres a tribute to 2008, I will just randomly list some events that took place since im a bad writer. We were able to do many things and see so many great people. Cheers to the many fun places we got to visit like Mexico, Florida, Peru, Chicago, AZ, Las Vegas and Colorado, St. George, and Moab. Man what great trips they were, and since they were so good it just feeds our addiction for travel and play.Cheers to Wesley, he turned a year old in july and then in sept he got his year long helmet off, its been fun to watch Wesley grow and learn to walk and talk and see his personality come alive. Cheers to the new president elect of the USA. Cheers to our old falling apart house, we finished most of our house and the apt downstairs is almost done and ready to be rented soon. Cheers to physical activity, Danny and I were able to do many different races and already signed up for some others for 2009. We were thankful for the family and friends that were able to come out to slc and stay with us as well. Cheers to the High school reunions, family reunions, birthdays, baby showers, weddings, new pregnancies and parties just for the heck of it, man what good times! We have had a good year and we owe it all to our family and friends who support us and make us laugh. We were able to spend the holidays with our friends and family back home in AZ and Colorado so cheers to our job flexibility! We also say cheers to all the good books we have read this year and all the great old and new music all around the world and new people we have met. Cheers to all the new ideas, thoughts and life changing events. We have really been through quite alot this year and we have enjoyed every minute of it( even the cold times). Good or bad we look back on it all and just remember the good times however my journal might disagree a little hehe. Anyway we have gone through some big changes personally in our life as a little family and we are so grateful for these changes. Winter blues hits me hard and i feel bad for Danny who has to be around this grumpy girl the most. The shoveling, the scraping, the slipping on ice and being cold is not my idea of a fun season. Yeah sure you look outside and its beautiful when you see the fresh fallen snow, the white city, but for the most part, time to enjoy it is limited. Things are more expensive it seems and things just get to be a hassle. But since Wesley seems to enjoy the snow i do like it more because of that but i get cautious for him Since age is creeping up on me i cant do the things i used to, i get hurt easier and recover slower so having fun in the snow is not as fun when you have to be more cautious. I hate being too cautious when it comes to adventure. With some things like summer sports and activities i don't know before I'm probably going to get hurt but when i go snowboarding i know i most likely probably will since it wont be as much fun if i don't come close to being hurt. I also know that going skiing or snowboarding is super cool so hey how can i stop when the pressure is on and i am striving in life to be so cool by freezing my ace off and throwing myself down a mountain. However there are some rare cases that the snow is so good that you can do whatever and you dont feel like you wasted your money or time. I guess I'm not cool enough to say that i like it no matter what, or I'm a snow snob, but whatever it is i just like to have fun, stay warm and not get hurt in the snow. For some odd reason in my mind i would rather hurt myself climbing, biking, playing soccer or whatnot. To me snow is only good for falling in when very deep, giving the earth moisture and looking pretty, other than that i say "i hate you snow you depress me, you need to be warmer and not so slippery ok!!The sun is very nice to me, i love outdoors and to me its better when its warm and maybe i just like the actual activities more. Anyway here is a video clip(my front flip attempt) of a great day in the snow that makes me and snow have a better relationship. It was good to me one or two days out of the year cuz i could try this and know i wouldnt get hurt.

Thankgiving in AZ and Chicago

Thanks gving in Arizona was fun and warm.We were able to enjoy the weather and be outside. On Thanksgiving day we ran the Mesa Turkey Trot which was 6.2 miles. It was alot of fun and no hills like Utah. Then of course we ate a bunch and then hung out and played some fun games. The Danny and I went to Chicago for his works sales shindig and that was a lot of fun too but we sure missed Wesley a lot since we left him with his aunt Vanesa for 4 days. While danny worked hard I hung out with another lady and we went to some great art museums, an aquarium and looked around town a bit. It was freezing, windy cold, snowy, bitter cold and did i mention freezing. The cold air that comes off of the Lake just bits through your clothes especially badly when its windy. However it was still fun and beautiful. We got to walk around a little the first day since it was not that bad but most days were too cold to even walk a couple of blocks. Dannys work payed for the expenses there and they took us out to such nice restaurants. Its a very classy exciting city and if it werent for those colder than utah winters i would move there. Maybe i would anyway but it seems like the older i get the less i like the cold. So Chicago was really fun and the huge McCormick center where danny had his Radiology Marketing thingy was huge. The boothes were practically little house inside the center. Well then I flew back to Az to get Wesley and hes seemed a little shocked and confused when he saw me. I thought he would run up and give me a hug but know it was more like hey where have you been and dont you ever do that again. He just starred at me for a while. Since then the last couple of days he has been more clingy but thats ok i love the comfort of his clinginness. well then in Az Danny returned a couple of days after me and we hung out in Az for a little while longer playing fun games going to see fake snow in Tempe and listening to a band there as well. Wesley loved the music there he was dancing around and looking for friends to talk to, i think he was that bands biggest fan. And then the good times came to an end. Thanks to everyone in Az for thier great hospitality and fun.

Well we are excited for the holidays that are coming soon. Like always we will be traveling for it all since our families (most of them) live outside of Utah. This post is not that interesting but I'm just putting it out there anyway. I just wanted to write an update on us before we head off for Thanksgiving.

Wesley: Im sure you all hear from other people and yourself the new things baby's learn so nothing to exciting but just in case anyone was wondering what hes learning these days here you go. Wesley is learning new things and words and sounds every day. He says(in his best way possible); Hi, Hola, Diego, Cracker, dont(a moms least favorite), baby, tickle, giggle, daddy, mommy, doggie, milk,rock, boo, go, uh-oh, yah yah, e-i-e-i-o,dog sounds, bird sounds,puts his finger over his mouth and says ssshhh and loves plugging peoples noses to hear the funny sounds it makes and my favorite is when he says ow because of the funny face he makes whenever he says it. He getting better at commands like look, sit, no, dont touch, out, and more.He's running, throwing things, dancing, singing, and likes to play the harmonica and guitar, he loves music. We have a video of him playing the harmonica which wont upload but below is one of him singing. It was taken quite a few months ago.(please dont pay any attention to the nasty bum singing with him) He also gives high fives, blows kisses, gives kisses and hugs while patting you on the back and when you say soft he pets anything with his hand softly. He likes to smell things, blow on food, make faces in the mirror and i love when he gives us courtesy laughs. Anyway, i just wanted to list them although you all pretty much know since its what all kids his age start doing.

Josalyn and Danny: Josalyns work is going great and she is getting more and more clients.We are going to have to have the babysitter come more often. Oh and i have to mention this cool book i just finished the other day called Nobility of Spirit by Rob Riemen and highly recommend it to anyone of any kind! Volunteering at the body worlds is going well too. We went a couple of days ago and took Wesleys babysitters for free and we all loved it! Since it was a free night for Volunteers and their families it was super packed, too packed, but still enjoyed every minute of every information. Even when i went back the next day for my shift i was still amazed and enjoyed looking again. Danny is enjoying his job as well and being a great dad, he has not had to travel much lately which is nice but pretty soon he will. We are redoing our downstairs apt. It will be done at the end of Nov. and hopefully we can get a renter in there so if anyone knows anyone looking for a basement apt for rent let us know( it comes with a pool)! 1.2 mile swim+56 mile bike+13 mile run= 7 hours of fun!

Well its over with finally. I finished the Silverman half-ironman after 7 hours and 19 min. There were so many hills, no wonder they call is the most grueling triathlon. My 1.2 mile swim was pretty slow, since i have bad form it hurt my back after a while and then the 56 mile bike i felt a little better but those crazy hills slowed me down for sure and then came the 13 mile run which was my better part, i always can do better in the run even though its last. We swam in Lake Mead it rained the first hour so we started an hour late and then we started the swim and a coupe minutes after it rained again. It was warmer in the water, then the bike was windy and cold but the run was warmer. The weather was the worst part of the whole race but at least we got to do it all, they almost had to cancel the swim part. Can you imagine the full distance ones that swim for 2 miles bike 112 miles and run 26 miles, wow maybe when im retired that would be possible. Most of the people doing the full were retired since they have the money and all day to train. Dannys parents came to watch, it was good to have more fans there. thanks guys! We had a good time with them exploring this part of las vegas. The day before my race though Wesley had a scary fall which turned out to not ne so bad. I freaked out cuz he hit his head on a rock and was bleeding so bad everywhere. Since the head is so vascular it looked worse than it was, we cleaned all the blood and he had 2 little bumps and a small cut. He was fine after when we got home from the event from checking in for the race. anyway there are some pics of the race and of his poor little head you can se the blood on his shirt and the other one is his bath time after, he didnt seem to be in much pain but one week ago he would have been saved by his helmet! well there is probably more bumps and scrapes to come, yikes! The drive back was tiring even though i didnt drive on the way back thanks to danny but it was still tiring. Danny was so kind to suport me in this from the start to the end and especially since it was his birthday this weekend too!

She wasnt talking about Zions national Park but i was singing it all the way up and down. We only got to hike up Angels Landing but there is so much more to explore in the future and we cant wait to return. We went with Marie, shes lives in St George so we visited with her there too, she made us some killer waffles, thanks for your hospitality Marie! Im sure Wesley loved the hike as well even though he fell asleep on the way down.

Well its election day and we are excited for the new President! Hopefully the new one that is farthest from Bush and we could go on about this but we wont. Wesley got his HELMET OFF!!!! Yeah. Below are some pictures oh him before and after. He ahd some long hair in there and we would have left it had mom cut it the right way but she did not so Heidi gave Wesley his first pro haircut. The other pictures are him showing how strong he is, his new love of riding in the bike trailer and his new love of being buried in the leaves. Sorry no pics of dressing up for halloween, he dressed down as a kid with no helmet. We enjoyed the warm weather but now it gets cold waaaahhh!!! Josalyn aslo got her new shoes for her race and excited to use them. The picture with his long hair he was being entertained by Jeramys guitar playing, he loved listening to a better player than his mom i think.

Granduer Peak/Beehive Tea Room

So a friend of mine (Marie) was in town so we decided to go for a quick hike to see the leaves changing and the great view from the top. We went up Grandeur Peak and it was beautiful as always. The last time we did this same hike Wesley was one month from being born so technically its his second time up there, however it didnt seem like he remembered much, hehe. When we got to the top we realized that his helmet was coming loose and we lost the screws so it broke. So he got to have it off for a good long time until we were smart enough to realize we could use the other screws from the other old helmets to fix it and bodabing bodabang it was ready to go back on. Anyway it was a good weekend, since on Sunday we also took tracks with Dannys friend and his kids to a really cool cafe. Well its called the Beehive Tea room, so its not quite a cafe cuz when you walk in its got different rooms that are so relaxing and cozy and you can order something to eat and drink. We highly recommend it for a nice relaxing meal or snack or to go and collect your thoughts, as we were here it was like we were transported to another place. It had such ambiance. Maybe because its got such an oldies feel to it, a classical feel. They play jazz, and blues music the kinda lounging music that would really help you do some good writing or drawing if your into that. It makes a great end to a hard week or day. I just had to blog it since its super cool.

Decorated with an eclectic mix of second-hand furniture, the Beehive gives an atmosphere of having "stepped back in time" when tearooms in cities like New York and San Francisco were bohemian hangouts frequented by artists and writers.

Helmet News and Cousin Visit

Well just in case anyone was wondering about when Wesley gets his helmet off we've on an answer for you, November 2nd. This is a year from when he first

 got it. When we would go to the doctor who makes the helmets he would say not till January and we were a little confused since they said a year from surgery, but the surgeon looked at it a week ago and said his head is perfect, just a couple more weeks. Yaya! Things have

worked out so well and although it says craniosynostosis sucks on his helmet, we should  mention that it actually has its advantages like avoiding head injuries. Now im sure i will be paranoid when it comes off and be more careful and also I will have to make sure that his hair cuts are a little better since i cant hide them anymore. I added some photos of before and after. Its hard to tell the difference with all his hair but his head is not as long and his forehead doesnt stick out. The surgery made him a soft spot that allowed room for his brain to grow which has now closed at the same time a regular soft spot closes. We are lucky to have such good medical care these days, just 5 years ago it would have been a lot worse for Wesley. Also Wesley visited his cousins at Thanksgiving point, he had a great time with them with all the rides and games, its a great fun place to go and probably better when its not so crowded. I will post some pics later when i get them from my sis that so kindly took them for me!

Sleepless night because of a crazy woman

Ok I just had to blog this because it was weird and scary. We have had some bad experiences before like being robbed at our old apt while we were sleeping and or the people next to us yelling and keeping us up all night or meeting a guy and finding out later that he killed his wife a week later. But wed night we had a weird encounter with a lady that we think was on drugs and or drunk. At like 12:30 we hear some talking we were not sure if it was one person or two but then suddenly we hear a pounding noise at our door and it gets louder and louder and we hear a womans voice saying "ah come on open, open." The pounding on our front door lasted a good while and after the first loud pound danny calls 911. while we wait for the cops to show up this lady is going to every door and every window pounding and hard as she can trying to get in and yelling. we see her hands scrape the window like an old scary Halloween movie. then she moves to the sliding glass door and starts pounding on that and trying to get in we turn on the light out there and finally see her. She had long brown/reddish hair, in a tank top(its was cold out too)with tattoos everywhere. Our faces and eyes meet and we can hear her and shes saying "open the door" over and over. We said to her do you need help like 5 times and her reply was "are you retarded." Well I probably did look retarded with my hair all crazy,black mascara smudged eyes and the freaked out face I was making. Finally she too off running and the cops got there two minutes too late. He starts looking for her up and down the street then she comes running down the street again and started rolling around on our lawn. We call 911 and tell them we see her again and the cop comes and finally catches her. phew!! all done. of course i cant sleep after something like that. Especially considering we have been robbed before and one of my clients just told me that same day that there was a woman going around scoping out house to rob. yikes! it was a different lady but still yikes. well we think she was just having some drug/alcohol related symptoms and maybe she thought our house was the house she was suppose to be at or was her house. she seemed like she was frustrated that she couldn't get in like it was her house. anyways that was a scary night, i grabbed Wesley brought him into out bed and couldn't get it out of my head. i think Danny got a little sleep since nothing ever seemed to worry him AS Much as it does me. hey other than that things are great, Wesley is learning and growing great and life is just dandy! p.s. lock your doors at all times you never know when someone will try to get in when they don't even know where they are or if they do!

Body Worlds yeah!!!!

The next four months will be an exciting time for many reasons. One reasons is that we get to see more family and friends and the other reason is because Josalyn gets to help out at the Body Worlds famous anatomy exhibit. Here is a picture of one of the many displays. This is such a cool exhibit, it takes me back to the college days in anatomy class, but at least these bodies dont smell, they are all preserved through plasination. This exhibit i cant express enough how amazing it is, maybe im just really into the body but one could spend all day looking at them all. My job will vary from day to day hour to hour but the first time I got to hang out and monitor the exhibit, and I think next time i get to help with some dissections of pigs or frogs in the Leo Zone. While Im there volunteering Welsey hangs out with his buddies Jeff, Laura and the two pugs. He loves feeding his snacks to the dogs. We appreciate their kindness to watch him while we are gone.

These two picture descibe just a little bit about Wesley. He loves making faces, one of the funny ones are when he makes a fist and grunts. Also hes really into climbing up things. With his helmet off you can tell mom did a bad job cutting his hair for the 3rd time. oh well, we will just cover it up anyay. Here he is climbing to the top of the changing table. Dont know how he got all the way up but he made it safely to the top.

We had the chance of seeing Josalyns sister and her family from Penn., as well as her other two sisters and thier families that are not so far away. We had a fun day playing at Bridal Veil Falls, looking offf of Squaw Peak(not enough time for us to make out though), and going on a great hay ride to look for some pumpkins. Oh yeah then brother-in-law Timbo made us all a great dinner. Wesley had fun with his cousins. We are sad to see the summer passing by but winter means vacation time to see more family and friends!

Well we usually post something that we have done, or something new and cool but today its just a post about a harder week. Although i only get a little taste of what its like to have your husband gone for a long time(empathy to those who's spouses are gone more than a week), its still hard. Danny is gone this week and i should be grateful its not longer, but i still miss him a lot. Not just because i have to take Wesley into work with me in the morning when hes gone but because i miss him walking in the door yelling to Wesley and me "hello my buddys I'm home." Hes in Boston for work right now. Hes not gone that much so i shouldnt be complaining but when hes gone it like i just want to sleep so the day he comes home will be sooner. But me i cant sleep when hes gone, thats the other hard thing, i get less sleep tossing and turining and just thinking. My mind is always going, unfortunately for danny sometimes i keep him up at night because of it. Besause of him though being able to talk it out of my mind or him telling me to just go to bed so many times helps me fall asleep but now hes gone and ill have to meditate or something. Somtimes i just want to grab Wesley from his crib and cuddle with him,( sleeping babys in my arms help me fall asleep), but then he or I wont sleep good in the end. Anyway, we miss Danny and hope to go with him next time to the east coast cuz we love it over there! Although this does mean that i dont have to cook as much or as good, Im no good at it anyway. Oh and the cleaning gets a little easier too. Oh, I just gotta look at the positives, wow i do feel much better, but not really. Who is gonna talk to me about how we can get OBAMA to WIN the election? sorry to the bloggers that are mccain fans. And who is gonna take out Wesleys carseat when Im complaining about my strained ligament in my wrist, or my back aches. Well we miss and love you DB for a million more reasons as well. =-)

National Ability Center Fun

Josalyns friend Rae, convinced her to take the summit challenge. It was a 50 mile bike in Park city/Kamas area. It was held by the National Ability Center in Park city and was such a beautiful ride. After the ride we got to go check out thier monkey ropes course. It was fun tight rope walking and tangoing up high on the boards with danny. Thanks Rae and Ben for letting us play! And since Josalyn didnt die on the bike ride that day she decided to sign up for the Silverman Half-Ironman this November in Las Vegas. 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13 mile run, yikes. maybe she will die after this! We are already making funeral preparations=)

We have been taking advantage of our last months or weeks of warm weather. We went to Capital Reef with our good ole friends Jeremy and Heidi. I was a dang good time. Also for an update on how Wesley is doing, he is an official walker, with the exception of falling over things. He loves walking, he just walks to walk. He loves holding on to bars and just hanging there or climbing everything. too He also talks here and there, some words he says well are daddy, uh-oh, giggle and tickle. Some words he says just ok are momma, doggy, and hello. oh boy they grow up fast, pretty soon he will be getting a job and wheeling us around in our wheel chairs.

we had a good fourth of july weekend. we went to manti and hung out with our buddies yeremy and hiedi and their family. it was fun we went to a great festival and had good food and ran a 5k. then danny and i and wesley camoed in maple canyon at a great spot. we went hiking, climbing, scrambling and all that good stuff. we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for almost every meal yumm. our buddies met us up there on saturday day as well and then on sunday we found a great overhang place to climb. we hiked with a lot of gear that tired us out but still did some good climbing, welsey did a good job again camping hangin out with his ole' rents and enjoying the scenery. oh before that wesley and i were able to go to colorado to my friend kathys wedding. it was good to see old friends and hang out with them, miss you all!also thanks to britton for the buddie passes, our trips are affordable and we owe it to him!

we have had some great trips so far this summer. we have been rock climbing alot, our hands are torn up but its addicting.We went to peru(machu picchu) and it was a blast, one of the most beautiful things ever! we also went to denver for josalyns high school reuion-fun,fun, fun then we went to the grand canyon for a great family reunion! it was goo to see everyone although not everyone was there. anyway im not one who likes to type alot so ill just posts some pics later.

One of the yummiest parts of Thanksgiving. The Olives!!!!! Everyone has done this when they were young!!! Brookie went crazy ove those olives like any other child would.

Well this is portugal, some parts we went to were so close to spain and we were tempted to just drive there but we were short on time. As you can see there were many castles here outside of lisbon. there were beautiful beaches, huge statues of Jesus Christ and funny background pic that you can take you pic with and it looks like your there(well sort of).

Mexico city and Juanouato( crazy looking churches, even ones with skulls inside that make the wall!) The next ones are Amsterdam(just the airport) and the beginning of a great trip to Portugal, lots of castles there too!

Jammin out in friends basement in mexico city, playing soccer/ pumpin iron, papa and abuelitas house with crazy uncle charlie. Tenochitlan, more mexico city inthe dirt road and silly hanging chickens. A very Wierd colorful animal house in mexico and us riding the bus. thenmore mexico city and getting crazy slapped in mexicos finest restuarants.
